2023 Winner:  E.ON UK

E.ON UK currently has 620 company cars on its fleet, with 79 per cent of those vehicles now being electric cars. This keeps the company firmly on track for its target of being fully electric by 2025. E.ON UK’s average CO2 across the company car fleet is 19g/km, an 85 per cent reduction in emissions in the three and a half years since the company started its fleet decarbonisation journey.  E.ON UK’s leasing partner Lex Autolease has recently confirmed E.ON is their leading corporate company car fleet in terms of the move to an all electric fleet, and has used it as an example to other companies as a best in class model in the transition to Electric vehicles. E.ON has a good numbers of electric vehicle chargers at its sites, and is currently looking to increase these. E.ON UK is also looking to reduce other travel related emissions. In the coming year, it will be looking to introduce the a travel booking system that will allow colleagues to be aware of best solutions to book in the air, rail and even hotel portfolio to reduce their own and E.ON’s business travel CO2 footprint.

2022 Winner: Mitie

Mitie has a 38 per cent zero-carbon electric vehicle (EV) fleet, one of the largest pure electric fleets in the UK. Mitie consistently exceeds its targets; currently the company is aiming for a 45 per cent zero-carbon fleet by March 2023, and is already ahead of schedule. Due to Mitie’s EV success in-house, it now has the expertise to offer client services. Acquiring Rock Power connections expanded Mitie’s EV charging capabilities and it has installed over 3,000 charging points at commercial and residential sites. Mitie also lobbies for improved infrastructure, including submitting to BEIS’ Consultation on speeding up the roll-out of high voltage infrastructure and to the Government Review of Electricity Market Arrangements. Mitie’s transport lead consultant also shared best practice at the AFP conference.
