Chief Executive
SMTA

Sandy has been actively involved in the UK motor industry for nearly 50 years. He started as a Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) apprentice in the summer of 1974 and moved into a junior car sales role. It was during this time he fell in love with the industry.

He also worked for a major group within the industry as their Scottish Managing Director.
He took a position with the Institute of the Motor Industry, managing their sector skills council representation in Scotland before eventually being appointed to look after the National Management Team across the UK. He then became the Chief Executive of The Scottish Motor Trade Association.
Along the way Sandy has served as a Director of Scottish Enterprise D&G, Director of a Scottish College, represented the Scottish Peugeot Dealers Association as President for two years, was President of the SMTA for five years and is currently a Director of CECRA based in Brussels representing the interests of 336,720 automotive related businesses across the E.U and Vice President of The Institute of the Motor Industry.
