GREENFLEET Yorkshire is a FREE-TO-ATTEND for fleet professionals looking to explore the very latest in ultra-low emission vehicle technology. Taking place at Castle Park, Doncaster on the 20th February 2020, you can expect to hear the latest in Government Policy, with support from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and gain insight into the latest vehicles available. The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) EV Group will be there, offering an insight in to what innovative vehicle technology is on the market NOW, and what’s in the pipeline. If you work for a public sector organisation, we have the very latest on the Frameworks, from the Crown Commercial Service (CCS).
As part of the Government’s strategy to improve air quality across the UK, discouraging the use of older, more polluting, vehicles is a key objective. The goal is to reduce the number of areas in the UK where air pollution breaches legal limits, and city by city, we are helping local, regional and transport authorities kick-start their ‘Clean Air Strategies’.
The current structure of motor tax reflects this. Cars with CO2 emissions of less than “50g per kilometre” have been able to claim a capital allowance worth 100% against the purchase. And that is not the only perk. Electric cars also qualify for a £3,500 plug-in grant. With the support from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles, you can expect to find out more about the grants and incentives available for YOUR BUSINESS at GREENFLEET Yorkshire.
Tax changes, which come into effect in 2020/2021*, will help to further reduce company car tax bills. Zero-emission and 100% electric cars will pay no company car tax in 2020/21. From April 6th 2020, there will be NO benefit-in-kind charge on electric cars with emissions of up to 50g/km CO2. Therefore, choosing an electric model as a company car could save nearly £5,000 a year.
Comparatively, electric vehicles are cheaper to run too. According to a comparison carried out by The Greengage, an electric car can cost as little as 2.6p per mile, as opposed to a petrol car, with a cost of 9.4p per mile. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) will be on hand to show YOU what is up-and-coming and what is available now so that YOU are well informed to make the right decisions for your businesses fleet.
Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) have a significant role to play in cleaning up the air. The authorities have a strategy, and this event will feature keynote presentations and group sessions that will enable YOU to find out more, and more importantly, the role that YOUR BUSINESS must play.
